MADONNA TO PREVIEW 3 MDNA TRACKS STARTING TOMORROW
After lukewarm responses to her new singles Give Me All Your Luvin' and Girl Gone Wild (at least on my end), word on the street is that Madonna will preview 60 second snippets of tracks off of her 12th album, MDNA every week until the album's March 26 release.
Matthew Todd was the lucky bastard who got the chance to listen to the entire album and review it for UK gay magazine Attitude: The album is a “dark album. MDNA is a fuck you to her marriage, the life that came with it, and partly to herself for losing her identity in a partnership. She’s out to recapture who she is, and she has demons to slay.”
Todd adds, “Overall, this might not have the serious pop intensity of Confessions, it’s not as drastically new or experimental as music critics might like, but it’s fun, f*cked up, dancey and full of drama. It’s what her fans have been waiting for: a wallop enough of an album to put her back up there, at checkmate against Lady Gaga, who, despite her brilliance, doesn’t quite give you songs that are as easy to disco dance to as some of these are. Is Madonna still ‘the Queen’ as Nicki Minaj gabs at one point? On the strength of MDNA, it’s hard to argue against.”
As I said before I will not fully judge the record until I hear it in it's entirety, but overall the first two singles, as a performer I feel Madonna can do better. I'm not saying she needs to beat me over the head with a life lesson, but at least you could have worked with producers who won't make you sound like every other US pop artist jumping on the dance bandwagon right now.
