KIRK CAMERON TRIES TO PLAY THE VICTIM AFTER PIERS MORGAN BACKLASH
A few weeks after Gay rights groups came out with their glittered pitchforks towards Kirk Cameron's negative remarks towards gay people on Piers Morgan Tonight, the former child srat/uber-Christian has taken his I Heart Fags campaign to anyone who will listen, blaming Piers for the backlash.
Here's what Cameron told FOX & Friends:
"I don't change my feeling about the comments. What disheartens me (is that Piers Morgan took) "some answers, reduce[d] an important and personal and sensitive issue to a four-second sound bite and toss[ed] it into a community to start a political bonfire. [To] really upset people you're saying you're looking to protect...is disingenuous."
Cameron also stopped by to talk with Ann Curry on Today:
Nobody should mistreat anybody. Homosexuals should not be mistreated. Heterosexuals should not be mistreated. Bisexuals should not be mistreated...[My views] are informed by my faith. I've found that to be a compass for me... I was surprised that people were surprised by the things that I said.
But that's not all. Cameron also talked to Ramin Setoodeh at The Daily Beast:
"When my friend who came to me and said you’re the first person I’m telling this to, I’ve known you for 10 years, I’m gay. I could tell how difficult it was. It’s personal. It’s sensitive. It’s difficult. He was nervous what my reaction would be. I said, 'Dude, you know me. I love you. There’s nothing you could ever tell me that would make me not love you and care about you.' If Piers had asked me that: what do you think about homosexuals? What do you think about the gay community?"
On what he'd do if his son was gay:
"It does grieve me to think there are people misunderstanding my heart on an issue. If my kids came to me and said I’m gay, I’d say, 'Son, I love you.' That’s never at stake. Never, never, never at stake. We’ll talk and we’ll go through life together and we’ll work through our thoughts and feelings and we’ll come to what’s healthy. You’ll make your decisions and I’ll make mine."
When Setoodeh asked Cameron his views on gay marriage, his publicist stepped in and told the reporter that Cameron will not be talking about that again.
Piers isn't having any of Kirk's bullshit:
"Kirk Cameron is moaning everywhere today that I stitched him up by releasing a 4-second 'soundbite' re his comments on gay marriage...These are the 4 seconds: homosexuality is 'unnatural..detrimental, and ultimately destructive to so many of the foundations of civilization'...Mr Cameron 'stands by the comments', despite his whining. So I'll let others decide if he was stitched up...or just a bigot...Re #KirkCameron, I respect his religious beliefs - just don't respect his use of bigoted, inflammatory language re homosexuality. End.
Piers applauded Kirk for standing behind his beliefs that are not popular with the liberals, but for Kirk to then turn into a little bitch and blame Piers for people being angry for his hateful comments is just plain stupid. I've always said I rather you hate me to my face and stand behind a belief that's not popular than act like you're my friend but then talk about me behind my back.
