The celebrity list of allies are heating up quite nicely as the list of presenters at the 2012 GLAAD Media Awards have been announced.
Jersey Shore‘s Vinny Guadagnino, Kirk Cameron's gay-loving Growing Pains co-star Tracey Gold, and Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi have been confirmed to make appearances at the New York edition of the awards, being held on Saturday, March 24th. If people are shocked by Vinny's name being on this list, I say don't be. Vinny has been a long time ally for the LGBT community and even took part in the It Get's Better Campaign. Last year, Vinny also introduced several hundred LGBT teens who were part of the audience as part of the GLAAD Media Awards Young Adult program.
The L.A. affiliates have tapped Ellen DeGeneres, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, Betty White, Anna Paquin and Fran Drescher to appear as presenters or honorees when they have their awards show on April 21th.
Some of the nominees include Beginners, J. Edgar, Albert Nobbs, Weekend, Pariah, Glee, Modern Family, and Grey’s Anatomy. Other nominees include Maureen Dowd and Frank Bruni for Outstanding Newspaper columnist, Entertainment Weekly and People for Outstanding Magazine Overall Coverage, and Batwoman and Archie for Outstanding Comic Book.
