OPRAH IN TALKS TO STAR IN THE BUTLER

Since her fledgling boring ass network is pretty much struggling to stay alive, it looks like Oprah may be heading back to acting. The former talk show host is in talks to star in a new film called The Butler, where Winfrey will play the wife of a black butler who works in the White House. The film, which is based on the true story of former White House butler Eugene Allen (who served eight Presidents), is being directed by Lee Daniels (Precious, Shadowboxer). I should also point out that Winfrey produced Precious as well so she and Daniels have a connection.

The last time Oprah appeared on the big screen was when she was in Beloved fourteen years ago. While I think it's great to see Oprah getting back into acting, why does she always have to play the role of a slave, a mammy, a sassy illiterate or someone attached to a servant? You would think with all her billions she would step away from the nigger nonsense, but I forget we're talking about Oprah here.
