MADONNA ACCUSED OF PLAGARIZING NEW SINGLE
While Madonna is currently enjoying the chart topping success of one of the worst singles she's dropped since American Life, the Material Girl has come under fire for some plagarism claims.
Brazilian artist Joao Brasil claims that her 38th top 10 single Give Me All Your Luvin' contains similar elements to his song “L.O.V.E. Banana”. Joao says he's a fan of Madonna's but his label may have to take legal action if she doesn't pay up.
“I still don’t understand what happened. I’m a huge fan of hers. If it’s plagiarism, then even better. She is always at the cutting edge of music, so it’s a good sign about what I do. It’s in [the record label's] hands, they’re looking at how to proceed and what they can do. But personally I don’t want to do anything. The last thing I need in my life is a fight with Madonna.”
Even former Dee-Lite singer Lady Miss Kier took Madonna to task for her thievery:
“that is the exact same hook of the song (which is the only rememberable part of both songs ) in the same key , same delivery. oops..she did it again. she’ll probably pay them approx 500,000$ in hush money to retain writers credit or probably already did. it’s what she’s always done. she’s McDonna being herself.”
I guess Lady Kier is still pissed at Madonna for ruining their career after the 90's dance group refused to sign away their souls in blood and collaborate with her, and for the fact that Madonna's Immaculate Collection single Rescue Me sounds similar to Dee-Lite's 1990 single, The Power of Love.
Like Gaga and Beyonce, Madonna is notorious for putting her name on lesser-known artist's ideas, this comes as no surprise to me at all, especially since I remember having a conversation on Facebook with one of my UK musician friends and he told me that this song was presented to her by a good friend of his and she went and reworked a few things without giving him a writing credit. I think the only similarities between both songs is the L-O-V-E/L-U-V chant. Other than that they are two completely differnet songs. Check out Joao's song and Madonna's GMAYL below to test the difference.
