BREAKING NEWS: WHITNEY HOUSTON FOUND DEAD
We are still early into 2012, and we've lost another great one. Whitney Houson was pronounced dead this afternoon. She was 48 years old. The six-time Grammy Award winning singer was at the Beverly Hilton Hotel, where she was supposed to show up at Clive Davis' Pre-Grammy party later on this evening, where Brandy & Monica were scheduled to perform their new single, It All Belongs To Me.
Houston was considered one of the best vocalists of our generation and beyond, and also starred in a few films, such as The Bodyguard, Waiting To Exhale and The Preacher's Wife. Her final film a remake of the movie Sparkle is scheduled to come out later this year.
According to TMZ a member of Whitney's entourage found her in her hotel room at the Beverly Hilton hotel ... and called hotel security -- who then dialed 911. When paramedics arrived Houston was found unresponsive.
We're told police arrived to the scene within minutes and fire was already there on an unrelated call. According to our sources, paramedics performed CPR but it did not work and she was pronounced dead at 3:55 PM.
Sources also say there were no signs of obvious foul play, but a BH PD detectives have begun a full investigation. We're told she was ID'ed by family and friends.
Houston is survived by ex-husband Bobby Brown, their daughter, Bobbi Kristina and her mother Cissy Houston.
I was really looking forward to Whitney working on making a comeback with her new movie (as well as the sequel to Waiting To Exhale), and a new album, and like Amy Winehouse and Don Cornelius we've lost another great talent.
Whitney was recently spotted out and about just last weekend coming from the club with on-again/off-again beau Ray-J. Since Ray is a scheduled guest on Wednesday's episode of The Wendy Williams Show, I'm hoping Wendy will get the scoop (if there is any). Also I know it's last minute, but I'm hoping the Grammy producers can work the 11th hour and get Jennifer Hudson, Brandy, Monica, Kelly Clarkson, Pink, Christina Aguilera, Deborah Cox and Jessie J to do a tribute to the singer.
Whitney's final film Sparkle, which will feature the final recordings by Houston will be released in August.
