MTV and sister station Logo are joining forces to create a star-studded show on teens and issues pertaining to the LGBT community.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the magazine revealed that MTV and Logo are working on a television special called It Gets Better, a show in the vein of MTV's hit docu-series True Life that will deal with three youngsters dealing with gay issues.
According to EW, celebrities such as Zachary Quinto, Adam Levine, Margaret Cho, Jake Shears, Sia, and, Vinny Guadagnino from Jersey Shore are all participating in the special. The hour-long special will air at 11 pm on February 21 and will he hosted by Dan Savage.
I know what you're thinking: What the hell is Vinny from Jersey Shore doing partaking in a special on gays? If anyone has been paying attention Vinny has been involved with LGBT issues and even filmed an "It Gets Better" PSA. Not to mention his consistant bromance with Pauly D has been playing out for the past two seasons on the show.
While I think this is a great idea to be doing a special on LGBT issues (which, in my opinion should be a weekly series), why is MTV & Logo airing this close to midnight? Most kids have school in the morning, but being that we're talking about MTV & Logo, they'll run the special into the ground. I'm also quite shocked that after close to seven years on TV, Logo is airing a special that shows gays in a positive light. The vapid, stereotypical hot mess of a network is growing up before our very eyes.
