RIHANNA SAYS NO CURRENT POP ARTIST IS IN HER LANE
Rihanna graces the cover of Look Magazine, and the 23-year-old pop singer, who holds the title of biggest singles artist in history by selling over 47 million records through digital downloads opens up about her current chart competition:
There’s nobody really in my league But there’s competition everywhere. The whole music industry is competition. There are people who like other artists, those who like me and others who like both. Beyonce is a great artist and I feel honoured to be mentioned in the same sentence, but we’re different performers with different styles.
When asked if there is an artist she looks up to, she responded:
Madonna. She reinvented her style and music with success every single time, and at the same time remained a real force. She’s fantastic.
Madonna was more than an artist who reinvented herself through fashion. Her music evolved as well. I've always said that if there was anyone to compare Rihanna to and that would be the black Madonna. In the six short years she's been working hard to build a mainstream brand, she has reinvented herself through every album. The only difference between she and Madonna is that the latter is very hands on with her music and songwriting.
