I have some great news for all you Brandy and Monica fans. Earlier this month I reported that the two princesses of R&B were reuniting to create the follow-up to their huge 1998 hit The Boy Is Mine. Now comes wotd that the track, titled It All Belongs To Me will be released on February 6.
Here is what songwriter/producer Rico Love told Rap-Up.com:
“It’s a very soulful R&B song with pop sensibilities. I wanted to make sure I made it a classic R&B record, but I definitely wanted to make sure that it had enough appeal to cross over and become a Top 40 record.”
For those who may not remember, The Boy Is Mine was the biggest song of the year, holding down the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 for 13 weeks, and won Brandy and Monica a Grammy for R&B Performance by a Duo or Group, so it's only smart that they reunite to re-create the magic in an era gone by.
“It All Belongs to Me” will appear on both Monica’s upcoming album New Life, which will be in stores on March 6, and Brandy’s as-yet-untitled RCA/Chameleon Records debut, coming later this spring.
