MOST ANTICIPATED ALBUMS OF 2012

I already gave my list of the best albums of 2011, and now that we are in the first week of 2012, here is my list of albums I am looking forward to in 2012. Save up them coins gurl, because this looks like this is going to be a great year in music.

Madonna - Untitled (March)

So far all we know is the album's first single is titled Give Me All Your Luvin' and will feature Nicki Minaj and M.I.A. on vocals. We also know that Martin Solveig, Benny Benassi and Ray of Light producer William Orbit will be providing beats. And it was just revealed that a Martin Solveig demo that never made it on his excellent Smash album called Turn Up The Radio is being reworked for her new album. As for what any of the music will sound like? I have no idea, since the demo version of GMAYL leaked and was aurally reworked. All I know is since Madonna is going back to her dance roots like she did with the excellent Confessions on a Dance Floor, it's going to be one of the fiercest dance albums of the year.

Scissor Sisters - Untitled (Spring)

The colorful band has already quenched our thirst with their single Shady Love earlier this week. The band announced on Facebook that they will be dropping the follow-up to their 2010 album Night Work in early Spring, and if there's more music on the album that sounds as good as Shady Love, then count me in.

Garbage - Untitled (Spring)

When one of my favorite 90's alternative rock bands announced that they would be getting back into the studio to work on a new album since releasing Bleed Like Me almost six years ago, I was beyond stoked. I've always been a fan of Butch Vig's production and Shirley Manson's menacing vocals, and I cannot wait to see this band bring the noise this year and hopefully bring rock back into the mainstream.

P!nk - Untitled (TBD)

It's hard to believe that P!nk hasn't dropped a new album since 2008, but then again it's understanding since she toured like crazy with the last record and took some time off to be a mother of her newborn Willow Sage. Now the pop rocker with real moxie is ready to get back into the musical fold and give us some of those pop anthems we've come to love from the pop vixen.

Christina Aguilera - Untitled (Spring/Summer 2012)

It's no big secret that Xtina's wannabe-electro album Bionic was the worst musical decision of her career. Then she followed up with that album with a horrid acting role in Burlesque, a divorce, and couldn't push herself away from the table with a huge weight gain. With the singer returning for a second season of The Voice as well as a new album, it seems to me that the "Beautiful" singer is getting back to basics (no pun intended). To be fair she did have one good song with Maroon 5 called Moves Like Jagger, and I reported recently that she is rumored to be releasing a song called Fuck Your Body. Let's hope her music will have more substance like when she channeled her inner 40's glamor girl and less Lady Marmalade tranny hooker

Adam Lambert - Tresspassing (March 20)

The American Idol runner-up may have been in the headlines recently for drunk fighting his boyfriend in Helsinki, but let's not get side tracked by all the drama and keep our eye on the music ball, mmmkay? Glambatar has been hard at work on his sophomore album, and just released the very safe single Better Than I Know Myself. But if the album is said to be his most diverse yet (collaborations with Dr. Luke, Bruno Mars, Nikka Costa, Sam Sparro and Pharrell Williams), Adam better come hard or go home. Says Adam, who Executive Produced the album himself: “this album is an exciting journey through the past two years of my life. It’s been a transformative period and I really wanted to make music from what I’ve experienced. All these songs honestly explore the ups and downs of my reality.” Can't wait to take this journey with you.

No Doubt - Untitled

We haven't had a new No Doubt record in over 10 years, and their new record was supposed to come out last year, but when it was delayed until this year, i started to get a bit worried. Then I thought to myself, 'good things comes to those who wait. I rather a quality album that will last the test of time than some rushed shitty record.' No Doubt are not Dr. Dre who will have us waiting until 2025 for his Detox record. When I heard that the band is working with producer Mark “Spike” Stent (Madonna, Bjork), who produced their excellent Rock Steady album again, as well as Major Lazer, I took a long exhale. A few of the album's titles recently leaked called “Dreaming the Same Dream”, “Easy”, “One More Summer” and “Settle Down.”

Janelle Monáe - Untitled

Singer Janelle Monáe, who wowed many fans and critics with her excellent and bizarre album ArchAndroid, is set to drop not one, but two albums this year. The Cold War singer wouldn't go into further detail about the album, but did say that it's 84.799% done. Can't wait!

La Roux (Spring)

After catching fire a year late in the U.S. after the global success of their hit Bulletproof (which won them a Best Electronic/Dance Album Grammy), the pressure is on for La Roux to bring the heat with their sophomore album. I remembere singer Elly Jackson saying in the early stages of recording that they are going in a different direction and that the album will have a classic disco vibe, and would like the album to have a sexy feel to it, but not backroom club sleazy.

Ke$ha (Spring)

Ke$ha has been called many things, but one thing that can't be denied is that not only does she not take herself too seriously (which is what I love in my artists), but she also writes some brilliant and catchy pop tunes. Heck, she gave Britney Spears one of the biggest songs of 2011 by penning Til The World Ends. Now the Sleazy singer is ready to drop her second full-length (not counting the EP) and is once again collaborating with super producer Dr. Luke, who says he's taking his time with the record because he wants to "make sure it's the reinvention of pop music." If the record sounds anything like the leaks “U Better Know” and “Only Wanna Dance With You,” which seems as if ke$ha was influenced heavily by classic rock icons Janis Joplin, Iggy Pop and Alice Cooper, I can't wait for the rest of the album.
