Even though it's been five years since Danity Kane broke up, two fifths of the defunct group Dawn Richard and Aubrey O' Day are still trying hard to forge careers all their own. Dawn is a part of the group Dirty Money with Kalenna and Diddy, and Aubrey, who is a contestant on the upcoming season of The Celebrity Apprentice was recently seen trying to go out on her own musically with her Oxygen reality series, All About Aubrey.
As far as who will be the artist that wins based on quality product, I have to go with Dawn. I enjoyed her mixtape, A Tell Tale Heart, and I feel that Dawn is more serious about her music than Aubrey is. The mixtape gave us some ferosh R&B/pop tracks and those deep songs that let us get up close and personal with Dawn. Whenever I look at Aubrey I think she's more interested in being a messy reality star (a la Snooki with better tits and face), and quite frankly, none of the music that I heard on her reality show stood out to me except for maybe Hitchhiker.
If Aubrey plays up the sex kitten dance pop schtick like say, Erika Jayne, and works with better producers then I can see her having longevity in the dance music world (especially in the gay community). She can make a killing doing a gay club tour.
The first part of Dawn's three-part album Goldenheart will be out later this year, and as for Aubrey I have no idea what's going on with her music or if her reality show was given a second season. Check out Dawn Richard's single SMFU (Save Me From You) below...
