WATCH: RUPAUL'S 1993 CHRISTMAS BALL

Remember back in the early 90's when TV actually had some good shit on it? When gays were colorful and not the boring mid-western straight wannabe's the mainstream gays have become today? Well if you can't remember, let me remind you.

When I was a kid growing up as a confused gay in Queens (I lived in Brooklyn until I was 12), I used to tune into Rupaul's talk show on VH1 and it was definitely the show that made me come to terms with my sexuality since I had never saw a gay man of color on TV. Well I was browsing on Facebook and a friend of mine posted this clip of Ru's 1993 Christmas special featuring celebrity guests Boy George, La Toya Jackson, Elton John and a few good Drag Queens. I'm glad people are getting a small doseage of Ru through his Drag Race show, but if there was anything I would recommend is that all my followers watch archival footage of Rupaul back in the day and experience his real genius.
