Steven Ira, the trans son of actors Warren Beatty and Annette Benning has some not-so-kind words for Chaz Bono. Steven, born Kathlyn says Chaz, who has pretty much become the face of the transgender community says Cher's son is “a misogynist who does not represent us.”
In a blog post, Ira rails against Bono for saying that transgenderism is “a birth defect, like a cleft palate,” and that “being male and having breasts is about the worst thing I could imagine.”
Ira also attacked Chaz for saying, “I never understood women before . . . but I had a tolerance for women that I don’t have now . . . There is something in testosterone that makes talking and gossiping really grating.”
Ira, who is under undergoing hormonal treatment, says, “I don’t want any rich white trans guy . . . telling the media that testosterone made him a misogynist . . . he has some deep-seated misogyny to work through.”
Ira, who’s attends Sarah Lawrence, a school in LA also ranted that the school board refuses to accept his new name. Ira calls himself “a transsexual who refuses to be treated as a logistical problem.”
Maybe some transsexuals feel like Chaz and I'm sure some feel like Steven. I can understand Steven saying he doesn't like Chaz saying he never understood women, because it would make you wonder all those years you were a lesbian how the exes you were with feel hearing that you never understood them when you were committed to each other.
Even though Chaz is now in the body he's always wanted he's still coming to terms with dealing with all the hormonal changes in his body, but on the other hand I am glad that someone who is as young as Steven is comfortable in his skin to say he is who he is and damn others who say otherwise.
I saw this documentary called I Am Jazz on OWN and Jazz, who is 11 summed it up the best. She said "I have a boy's body and a girl's brain." Same goes on the opposite side.
