RUSSELL BRAND TO HOST LATE NIGHT TALK SHOW ON FX

Move over Leno, Conan and Letterman, because we're about to get another face in the late night line-up. Word on the street is that UK import Russell Brand is coming to late night television. The comic, who is married to singer Katy Perry and will serve as executive producer has inked a deal with FX for a six-episode late night series, that will feature his take on politica, pop culture and current events. The show will premiere in the Spring.

Here is what the actor/comic said in a statement earlier today: “I am so excited I’m on the point of climax, in fact I will put the ‘O’ into FX, which spells Fox, which is actually the channel’s real name.”

“That’s the only thing that worries me about all this to be honest. At least I’ll be able to have a Christmas drink with Bill O’Reilly,” he joked.

FX added, “We’re very excited to add Russell Brand’s bracingly funny, original, and honest voice to the FX comedy lineup.”

I'm a bit on the fence about this, but like George Lopez I will check it out based on my curiousity. I can actually think of funnier British comics who would be a hit on U.S. late night cable, like Graham Norton or Alan Carr Chatty Man, but I don't think the networks would go for a queeny Brit. With all these talk shows in the works, I'm still wondering why I don't have mine yet? I could perform circles around these unfunny bitches that are clogging up our airwaves on a daily basis. Maybe I need to do like Kandi Burruss and take my raw & uncensored talk show to the internet, like her Kandi Koated Nights web show.
