Neil Patrick Harris is the latest celebrity to come under fire after using the word "tranny" while co-hosting alongside Kelly Ripa on Live With Kelly this week.
Tweeted Harris: "Truly sorry for saying the word 'tranny' on Live this week. Twice! Should have been more thoughtful. Didn't at all mean to offend."
Trans bloggers came out with their potchforks after Harris, with Kelly inhaled from a canister of Sulfur Hexafluoride, a chemical gas that makes your voice deep, and said jokingly, "I've never sounded more like a tranny in my life" after doing a hilarious imitation of serial killer Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs.
Trans bloggers took offense to being compared to the serial killer, as well as activist Dan Savage, who recently came under fire and was glitterbombed by trans activists who said they were angry about, among other things, his use of the word "tranny".
The PC nazis GLAAD are also jumping on the bandwagon said is reaching out to Harris about the incident:
Kelly Osbourne also apologized recently for using "tranny" in an interview in the UK after she talked about her ex-fiancee cheating on her with someone who was transgender. Neil is an all around nice guy and I'm sure he didn't mean anything bad by what he said. If you've ever listened to him in interviews, he has a pretty wicked sense of humor. Not that that excuses what he said, but we need to stop going after easy targets and out allies, and go in on those who really aren't for your rights.
What scares me about these organizations targeting our own is that we are becoming a nation where we are vilified whenever we say something. Regardless there's always going to be something we say that is going to offend someone. I cally my transgender friends tranny's all the time and they are not offended by it at all. It just seems to me that there are certain people (like Dan Savage and GLAAD) jumping on NPH's case to bring attention to their own agenda.
