There had been rumors circuating for weeks that Madonna had signed with Interscope Records to release her new album, and Billboard has confirmed the news. After ending her 25-year relationship with Warner Bros., the pop superstar, who just filmed the music video for her 12th album's first single Give Me All Your Luvin' with M.I.A. and Nicki Minaj has signed a three-album deal with Interscope.
“She’ll continue to tour with Live Nation but has the deal with Interscope at a base of $1 million per album.”
In 2007, Live Nation signed the superstar to a 10-year deal reportedly worth $100 million that includes new studio albums, touring, merchandising, fan club/website, DVD's, music-related television and film projects and associated sponsorship agreements. This portion of the commitment is being valued at $40 million, sources tell Billboard."
Madonna's manager Guy Oseary said: "We couldn't be happier to work with Jimmy Iovine, Lucian Grainge (Chairman & CEO, Universal Music Group) and the entire Interscope team. We anticipate a very bright future at our new home." Added Jimmy Iovine, Chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M. "Very rarely does an opportunity like this come around. We would like to thank Madonna, Guy and Live Nation for their belief in us."
Madonna's new album is done and is scheduled to come out in March, and she will perform during Super Bowl halftime on February 5. She will also release her new film W.E. (which she wrote and directed) on February 3. Her new single will be released at the end of January.
Now that Madonna is on Interscope, she's now label-mates with Lady Gaga, U2, The Black Eyed Peas, Eminem, Enrique Iglesias, Robyn and No Doubt. Let's all hope that since she's on the same label as Gaga that there won't be a collaboration between the two of them.
