It's a slow day at the office, so forgive me for reporting this. Lance Bass, who is mostly known for being in the boy band N*SYNC and for notoriously dating A-List: New York reality star Reichen Lehmkul felt the need to pull a Neil Patrick Harris and used the phrase "trannies" while being interviewed by Access Hollywood.
It all started when Bass suggested to comedian Billy Eichner that on his upcoming TV show Eichner should interview “trannies.” Eichner agreed, saying, “I love a tranny” before adding “We’re not supposed to call them trannies anymore” and mentioning Harris’ televised slur.
Bass replied by saying, “I didn’t get the memo… I like my good ol’ trannies.”
I love a good ol' tranny too. In fact I have a few of them as friends and they aren't even offended by the word. I seriously think there's plenty more interesting things in the world we need to be worrying about than whether or not we are offending someone with a word. Whether or not Lance was saying it to get some attention or not (que the twitter apology to GLAAD in 3...2...), I personally will continue to use the word as well as black, retard, fag, cunt, crack baby and fat ass.
