JENNIFER HUDSON WAS ORIGINALLY SUPPOSED TO PLAY PRECIOUS
Wow you learn something new everyday. Long before Gabourey Sidibe won her breakout role and an Oscar nomination as the tortured schoolgirl, Jennifer Hudson reveals in her new book, I Got This: How I Changed My Ways and Lost What Weighed Me Down, that she was offered the role of Prescious. Shortly after she won the Oscar for Dreamgirls, JHud had lost the weight she had gained for the role, and wasn't willing to go back to eating like a big girl with diabetes at an all you can eat buffet for the role.
"I had done that with Effie," writes JHud, "and as much as I was moved by this film, I wanted to try a role that had nothing whatsoever to do with my weight."
JHud went on to play Carrie Bradshaw's assistant in the first Sex and the City movie.
That was definitely a smart move on Jennifer's part since the last thing you want to be is typecasted in Hollywood as the go-to actress for fat roles.
