Now this is some pretty exciting news. Ever since I heard that Hollyweird was planning on rebooting the Buffy The Vampire Slayer franchise without Joss Whedon, I immediately sensed a disaster in our midst. Well now that i've been hearing that the film is having trouble getting off the ground, this is the best news I've heard all day.

Two sources close to the project say that the script submitted this past summer by writer Whit Anderson fell far short of expectations and, in the end, was rejected completely. That’s news that will spark celebration from some longtime “Buffy” fans who were less than thrilled by the prospects of a “Buffy” revival that didn’t involve Joss Whedon.
So the question remains what does the future hold for a Buffy movie?
Producers are currently looking for a new writer, but producers are also feeling a bit gun shy because thy've heard an overwhelming amount od disgust for the film, especially since Joss Whedon is not involved. So I say this...once Joss is finished promoting Avengers, have a meeting with him and get him to write a screenplay and possibly direct the film. Joss is the one who took the WB series and made it the cult success it is today, that has been imitated by many but never duplicated it's success. If the Buffy reboot never gets off the ground, I would really love to see Eliza Dushku return to form in a spin-off series about fan favorite Faith.
