STRAIGHT RAPPER WANTS TO START GENRE-BENDING HIP HOP MOVEMENT

Bad enough I be seeing these so-called straight boys bleaching their hair blond and wearing skinny jeans, now comes word that there's a straight rapper that wants to push hip hop further into cunty territory.

A rapper that goes by the name Dphill Spanglishman is trying to get a new trend going in the hip hop community cammed the "XY" movement. The rapper, who sat down for an interview with Vibe, told the magazine that the XY Movement are "a new breed of straight male artists who rock lipstick and tight, colorful clothing to blur gender lines."

It should come as no surprise that Dphill would receive a backlash, especially from homophobic sites like Worldstarhiphop, where if you've ever read the comments left by some of the readers, you'd know what I'm talking about.

“A lot of people feel like a lot of colors and tight clothes is homosexual,” Phillips said, “ I feel like that it’s more of an expression to me.”

Dphill is ahead of his time with this idea, but in the world of hip hop it might not go over so well. LMFAO dresses in extreme tight clothing, but their rap is geared more towards an alternative/dance audience than your typical Jay Z/50 Cent-type of hip hop. As someone who is an artist and an advocate for free expression, I feel there's nothing wrong with expressing yourself in a colorful manner. But the minute you take it into drag queen territory, that's another story. Androgyny is more accepted in Rock N' Roll, dance music and synth pop, but not so much in the world of hip hop.

I know we as people of color have alot to deal with when it comes to machismo and homosexuality, and for someone to come along and change the perception of what people deem masculine and feminine I applaud you for your moxie, but many people are not going to go for this change, especially when hip hop is all about bragging about how many cars, bitches and money you have, being fake, and closeted gay rappers. You could have just kept quiet and came out with your wild look instead of talking about it. Hell, Chris Brown, Omarion, Soulja Boy and Ray J all dress like a bunch of bottom bitches read to be auctioned off to the richest rapper, so if you would have just came out with your trend people probably would have followed it.

Overall you fucking straight boys are making it hard for an openly gay man like me to hook up, because y'all confusing as hell with straight boys looking gayer than ever, and gay boys trying too damn hard to blend in with the straight community. I shouldn't have to work up a sweat trynna get some ass, but I applaud you for your hustle.
