As you all know by now, Madonna is working on her 12th studio album to be released sometime in Spring, 2012 and will debut the album's first single during the Super Bowl half-time special. Well now comes word from a tweet sent out yesterday by Polydor France that the pop icon's new album will be released through the Universal/Interscope Music Group imprint.
Tweeted Polydor: "A huge international artist will be releasing it’s upcoming album with Universal – Polydor in France. More info soon! Any ideas?"
Shortly after the tweet, the label posted a link to Madonna's hit song Frozen from her brilliant Ray Of Light album. After releasing another greatest hits album Celebration on long-time label Warner Bros., Madonna signed a huge 100 million + deal with Live Nation, who would collaborate with the singer on future music, merchandise and touring deals. Then back in September, Live Nation and Universal announced they would be joining forces, but Madonna's new label will not be Universal but but a part of the Interscope family.
If Madonna is in fact a part of the Interscope family through her Live Nation deal, I hope it's with Cherrytree who has some of the most awesome artists on their repertoire. I also hope that since Madonna is label mates with Lady Gaga people don't think she will be collaborating with that unoriginal, walking, copy machine on a duet in the near future.
