LAURIEANN GIBSON OPENS UP ABOUT GAGA SPLIT

Earlier this week, rumors spread like wildfire that Lady Gaga's longtime choreographer Laurieann Gibson had been fired from the Haus of Gaga after talking in an interview how she purposely made Gaga in Madonna's image. Laurieann spoke to The Hollywood Reporter and to save face revealed that it was her decision to leave.

“I am fulfilled with the work I have done with choreographing all of the iconic moves, creative directing the artist, appearances, shows, directing the tour, music videos, and the HBO Monster Ball, which was a culmination of my work as its creator and director.

“Recently, Lady Gaga was motivated to take the helm of the creative direction of her career and, as such, I decided to step away. I am extremely proud of her, and, in stepping away, I wish her all the best.”

Laurieann recently shut down her Boomkack twitter account and revived it as BoomBetrayer, which left many of us to speculate that the two did have a rough falling out. What I love about Laurieann is that unlike Gaga, Gibson will tell you the truth as it is happening. Straight with no chaser is how I like my drinks.

Said Gibson to Necole Bitchie earlier this year on how she came to create the stage presence that Gaga takes full credit for today:

I got a call from one of the record executives that I’d worked with before, Vincent. I did The Dream for him. He told me he found a girl. I said, “Who did you find?” He said she’s crazy like me. Then I met her. She came to my rehearsal with Alicia Keys, put on her record and I loved the music. I said alright ‘let’s start working’. I remember she was so emotional about her dream like I was.

At the time, everyone wanted me to make another Beyonce or every executive was like “No, we want to do Jamaican, we want to do this or that” I was like what do y’all know about a dance step? Because Beyonce is doing a booty shake now everybody got to learn that too? It was so frustrating because when you have a gift, you can’t reproduce what’s already out there, that’s not how it works. So this girl said, “Whatever you tell me, I get it.” I said, “Well, my name is LaurieAnn”. She told me her name was Lady Gaga. She came to rehearsal and I loved the record; it started speaking to me instantly. Then I poured everything into this project. I said if I didn’t make her number one then what are they going to tell me? Danity Kane number one, Puff Daddy..like every time I did it they took it away from me. I said there’s something I’m not doing right and then I said let me make it so obvious. Three and a half years later, Lady Gaga is number one in the world and I’m very proud of that collaboration. That was one of the first times as a creative director that the entire thing- the fashion, the creative process -someone listened and wasn’t afraid of my fearlessness. They took it, ran with it and did the work.

And here is what Us Weekly senior music editor Ian Drew told MTV:

“As a journalist, [Laurieann] is an interviewer’s dream because you’d catch her, and she’d always just say what was going on. Laurieann would just say it. She would give you that perfect sound bite. She tended to be a little bit loose-lipped. But on the other hand, I can see why that maybe ruffled Gaga’s feathers, because Gaga’s all about the performance piece and not giving away too much. Laurieann really liked to take credit — not that that was bad, [and] maybe it was due, but maybe Gaga didn’t want everyone knowing that. In the end, I do tend to think it was something to do with creative differences.”

Gaga always says she is the creator of all her stage shows, which I knew from the beginning was a lie, but I'm glad Laurieann was swift enough to admit it. Gaga loves to go around acting as if she is the creator of her own existance, but when you are told by major labels you are not attractive, thin, or interesting enough to become the next pop superstar, you would change your musical style from Paula Cole and invade Madonna's entire back catalogue, go on a diet to  get as thin as Posh Spice, and rape Grace Jones and Leigh Bowery's closet too to pretend you are an avant-garde artist. Gaga felt she learned everything she needed to learn from Laurieann and felt it was time to move on to more challeging things. it doesn't matter what I say because Gaga's "critters" eat her doo doo and they'll make excuses for her phoniness. Gaga has no problem thanking her "little monsters" ad nauseum for her success, but if it weren't for the dancers, choreographers, people who put your stage show together, music directors, producers, costume designers, etc., you would n't be where you are today. I just hope Laurieann's loose lips won't keep her from working with other people in the future. As an artist if you collaborate with people, you should be up front about it. People who reek phoniness annoy me, and this is why I have no respect for someone like Gaga. At least she has her two reality shows on E! and BET.
