It looks like Gayle King has a new job and it ain't licking Oprah's labia lips. While there were reports that she was getting her own talk show, I have further details on what her new job entails.
Oprah's BFF has left OWN and will join PBS late night talk show host Charlie Rose and and Erica Hillfor a new talk show that will replace The Early Show. So that means The Gayle King Show is kaput.
While some may try to start a feud between Oprah and Gayle (I can see the tabloid headlines now), OWN and Harpo presidents Sheri Salata and Erik Logan, have left the door open in case she decides to return. "We are so happy for Gayle's opportunity of a lifetime," the network said in a statement. "She'll be a fantastic host for the new morning show on CBS and we wish her all the best. Although her show will not continue on OWN, we look forward to her joining us from time-to-time as her schedule allows."
The show, which will begin at 8 am until 10 is expected to go against competitors Good Morning America and the Today Show, and will be a cross between hard news, and hot topics, a la ABC's The View. The new talk show will debut on Monday, Jan. 9, broadcasting live from the CBS Broadcast Center in New York City in a new, state-of-the-art studio. John Miller, Rebecca Jarvis and Jeff Glor will serve as correspondents.
It's no surprise they're trying to lure some high profile names to CBS, because let's be frank no one I know is watching CBS in the morning. If I'm in front of a TV early enough or depending which celebrity is on, I'm usually DVR-ing Today and GMA. Also, just because you're fucking Les Moonves doesn't mean you guarantee ratings (I'm talking about you, Julie Chen). I think the best thing to happen to Gayle is that she is going to CBS, since not only is this the first job she's gotten that doesn't have Oprah's vaginal scent all over it, but no one was watching her boring ass show on OWN.
