EDDIE MURPHY STEPS DOWN AS HOST OF THE OSCARS

Shortly after closet case and all around douche Brett Ratner stepped down as producer of the 2012 Oscars, another closet case Eddie Murphy has followed suit and will not host the Academt Awards in February. It should come as no surprise that after GLAAD flooded the Academy with complaints against Brett for saying "rehearsals are for fags" that his good friend Eddie would follow suit. If I had to guess it was probably Brett's idea to get Eddie to come on board to host, and if his buddy was not going to be there to have his back, then it would make sense for him to follow suit.

“I appreciate how Eddie feels about losing his creative partner, Brett Ratner, and we all wish him well,” Tom Sherak, the Academy’s president, said in a statement.

In his own statement Mr. Murphy said he understood and supported “each party’s decision with regard to a change of producers.”

“I was truly looking forward to being a part of the show that our production team and writers were just starting to develop, but I’m sure that the new production team and host will do an equally great job,” he said.

Brian Grazer, who produced Tower Heist and J. Edgar will now produce the event and word is people are now scrambling to find a new host. So instead of hiring a bunch of uptight closet cases to zhush up the Oscars, how about some real entertaining gays like Jane Lynch or Neil Patrick Harris, who always seem to bring it whenever they host an awards show. Or how about bringing in Hugh Jackman, who is loved by bot the film and the theater industry. Hell, anyone would be better than the messy hosts from last year James Franco and Anne Hathaway. Brian comes from old Hollywood, and the Oscars is all about old school debonair. To me this resigning on both parts is a blessing in disguise. Not due to Brett's comment which I will be honest I wasn't offended by, but I felt his Def Jam/MTV style would not gel with what the Oscars is all about. If you want Brett and Eddie, who hasn't been funny since Raw then they should hire them both for the MTV Movie Awards.

Update: Billy Crystal will step in as host of the Oscars. Great choice
