As you all know, The Balck Eyed Peas have announced that they are taking an extended break to focus on other ventures once their tour wraps on November 23. will.i.am is producing for other artists, deejaying events and working on a solo album called Black Einstein, and Fergie has said she would like to spend more time with her husband actor Josh Duhamel and possibly start a family. Who gives a shit what the other two members are doing, but Taboo had this to say about Fergie’s departure: “We have to respect Ferg. Ferg is our sister. She definitely wants to have a family, and we’re happy for her.”
But if you believe the rumors always concocted by the always inaccurate Mediafakeout.com, the site is saying that if Fergie is not ready to rejoin the Peas once three quarters of them are ready to put out another album, they will replace her with Ashanti. Excuse you? A top leading industry insider told the site that “the group had been looking for a replacement for some time.” There will reportedly be an official announcement in the next few days.
Like most of the shit that comes from Mediafakeout, I don't believe this at all. The Peas have worked exceptionally hard in the past couple of years for mainstream success, and while The Beggining was a hot pile of shit, and will.i.am. in my opinion is one of the worst live performers alive, there's no way they wouldn't be willing to take at least a few years off to go do other things. No Doubt took off ten years and people are more excited than ever for their new album to drop next year. If BEP believe wholeheartedly in their product and they don't have the same mentality of manufactured pop stars liek Rihanna and Beyonce, who feel they need to drop a new album every six months because they know they have the artistic range of a kiddie pool, then they can stand to take some extended time off. If the rumors do happen to be true (which of course I doubt), then why not hire Nicole Scherzinger? She did try to join BEP before she became a member of the Pussycat Dolls.
