WEST VILLAGE BAR PIECES MOVING TO HELL'S KITCHEN?
In the almost complete mission to wipe out any remaining gay history that struggles to dominate what's left of Greenwich Village, word on the street is that the famous bar Pieces may be moving to Hell's Kitchen, which some call the new Chelsea. The original plan was for Pieces to move to a nearby location on Eighth street over the summer, but plans shortly fell through. Will Clark, who has his Porno Bingo and Will Clark Show parties at Pieces revealed to NYC nightlife bible Next Magazine that owner Eric Einstein is looking to move to a new location on 697 10th Avenue, and once the move is complete, they may be looking to change the venue's name. Einstein needs to go through the proper channels by getting approval from yet another community board, so he is asking frequent Pieces patrons to sign an online petition in support of the new move.
With Pieces moving to Hells Kitchen, and the revival of XL Dance Bar in Times Square and three other bars Flaming Saddles Saloon, Boxers HK, The Backroom on West 19th street in Chelsea, and Fairytale Lounge, it looks like the NYC gay nightlife scene is getting the much-deserved revival we've all been hungering for. Now all we need is for people to come out and show support - that is if the drinks don't cost an arm and a leg. We're in a recession remember?
