RACHEL MADDOW NOT READY FOR MARRIAGE

Rachel Maddow, who has been in a 12-year relationship with her partner Susan Mikula recently opened up on a variety of topics in The Hollywood Reporter, including how she feels the huge impact and push for gay marriage will eventually kill gay creativity.

"I feel that gay people not being able to get married for generations, forever, meant that we came up with alternative ways of recognizing relationships," she explains. "And I worry that if everybody has access to the same institutions that we lose the creativity of subcultures having to make it on their own. And I like gay culture."

I actually agree with her. While I am for equal opportunities for people who are in long term relationships, one of the things I love and benifit from being a young, strong, openly gay man is that I don't have to live by the rules that heterosexuals take advantage of. I have watched how the world is unfolding, and I feel we as gay people are losing our sense of creativity and culture, because mainstream gays are more interested in conforming to heterosexual ideals rather than living their own truth. We don't need to water ourselves down so that straight people can accept us. I personally don't give a fuck if you like me or not. I live my life as I see fit and I have never been the type to pepetuate an image so that you can accept me. I don't step on anyone's toes and tell them how to live their lives, and I expect others to do the same.
