ONE OF MADONNA'S BROTHERS IS HOMELESS
While the pop superstar is busy getting booed in London at the premiere of her critically-panned second directorial project, W.E. (she was booed for spending a few minutes on the red carpet greeting fans and giving brief interviews), Madonna has a brother on the other side of the world who is currently living under a bridge in Traverse City, Michigan.
Madonna's brother Anthony Ciccone revealed in an interview with The Michigan Messenger that he has been homeless for a year-and-a-half since losing his job at his father's winery in Suttons Bay.
Anthony did not reveal the reason as to why he is unemployed, but he says, “My family turned their back on me, basically, when I was having a hard time.”
So of course this begs the question if Madonna has homes in New York, Los Angeles and London, why hasn't she lent a helping hand to her brother in need, Ciccone responds, “You think I haven’t answered this kind of question a bazillion times — why my sister is a multibazillionaire, and I’m homeless on the street? Never say never. This could happen to anybody.”
Paying attention to the small amount of facts that we are given about this story, I'm sure there must be more to the story than we are being told. Madonna's other brother Christopher wrote a scathing book about her a few years back (so I can understand the trust issues there) and if you lose a job working for your own relatives, clearly there must be something you must have done to cause this. If I were in Madonna's situation, I wouldn't hesitate to help my siblings out (even though I shouldn't be obligated to do so - I mean I did work my ass off to get where I am today). But if you are someone who is a thief, a drug addict, or someone who is just latching on for a free ride, we are going to have a problem.
The saying goes blood is thicker than water, but I have witnessed so-called family sell you up the river for a quick payday. Just because people are your blood doesn't mean they act like family. You could help someone by giving them money until you are blue in the face, but if he is on drugs and is using the money to get high instead of getting his life back on track, how long can you sit by and contribute to their habit if they don't take getting help seriously (hypothetically speaking). Both Madonna's older brothers Martin and Anthony have struggled with substance abuse in the past, so I am getting a strong vibe that this is the real catalyst behind the story. She was already asleep so he missed her until the next day. Hopefully they will work it out but I would like to know more about this story instead of Anthony pointing the finger at his father and sister for the situation his life is in at the moment.
