While shooting a scene for the upcoming Resident Evil: Retribution 3D this morning at Cinespace Film Studios in Toronto, 16 actors and crew members were rushed to the hospital for leg, back, and arm injuries.
According to Toronto Police spokeswoman Wendy Drummond, the film, which is being directed by Paul W.S. Anderson (Resident Evil & Resident Evil: Afterlife) and stars his wife Milla Jovovich said that as a number of actors were moving one platform to another, the first stage — which was on wheels — buckled, causing some of the actors to fall down in between the two platforms.
The names of the injured have yet to be released. In other RE news, Milla Jovovich revealed this morning that actress Li Bingbing has been cast as Ada Wong. Bingbing's credits include The Forbidden Kingdom, Mystery of The Phantom Flame and Jackie Chan's upcoming action film 1911.
Tweeted Jovovich: "G'mornin every1! Well, I have some news that a lot of u will be interested in! We have finally cast our Ada Wong! Drum roll please! So, Ada Wong in RE5 is being played by Chinese actress Li Bingbing! We're so excited!"
Bingbing joins an already stellar cast including Sienna Guillory, Colin Salmon, Michelle Rodriguez, Shawn Roberts, Boris Kodjoe, Johann Urb, Oded Fehr and Kevin Durand. Since the film has started filming I'm guessing Wentworth Miller and Ali Larter will not be reprising their roles as Chris and Claire Redfield? Paul better explain their departure in the next movie or there will be hell to pay. Resident Evil: Retribution will be in theaters on September 14, 2012.
