BELGIAN CHOREOGRAPHER CALLS OUT BEYONCE FOR PLAGARISM
Beyonce has just released the music video for her latest single Countdown, and the entertainer is once again at the end of a plagarism scheme. In the video, people are noticing similarities between the video's choreography and a video made by Belgian choreographer Anne Teresa De Keermaecker. There's even a side-by-side video on YouTube to draw your own comparisons.
The video's director, Adria Petty, explained to MTV, "I brought Beyoncé a number of references and we picked some out together. Most were German modern-dance references, believe it or not. But it really evolved."
When I saw the music video I immediately thought Flashdance, and I saw some references to Audrey Hepburn, but now that I've seen the following video, I'm not surprised at all by Beyonce's actions. This isn't the first time bey has been called out for her musical and dance thievery, and I'm sure it won't be the last. Earlier this year when she performed at the Billboard Awards, the singer was called out for ripping off a routine done by Lorella Cuccarini for her debut performance of Run The World (Girls). To be fair Beyonce met with Cuccarini's creative team to help her work on the choreography. By the sounds of this, it seems Bey didn't get permission to use the choreography.
Says Keermaecker: "I didn't know anything about this. I'm not mad, but this is plagiarism. This is stealing. They took pieces from Achterland and Rosas danst Rosas. ... It's a bit rude, I must say. ... What's rude about it is that they don't even bother about hiding it. They seem to think they could do it because it's a famous work. ... Am I honored? Look, I've seen local school kids doing this. That's a lot more beautiful."
One day I wish this bitch would give credit where it's due for once. All I know is Lady Gaga's happy she's not at the butt end of the pop thievery stick for once.
I have said it countless times that everyone takes inspiration from others, but true artists bring something unique to the table. beyonce just copied everything down from the hair, choreography, background and costuming. That to me is straight plagarism. but then again when you're never held accountable for your actions what do you expect. it may be time for you to fire your creative team for their lazy way of coming up with proper concepts.
