ADAM LAMBERT REVEALS BEG FOR MERCY ARTWORK; TALKS NEW ALBUM TO THE ADVOCATE
Adam Lambert has revealed the official album cover for his sophomore album titled Beg For Mercy, which will be in stores on November 21. Quite the departure from his first album, which showcased the American Idol runner-up all glammed up and looking fierce. I love the post-apocolyptic vibe of the cover and interesting choice not putting your face on your own album. You can pretty much imagine the album will have a revolutionary fist-in-the-air vibe.
In other Glambatar news, Adam Lambert is on the cover of Advocate where he talked about why he is taking his time to record the new album:
“It takes time to get it right,” he says of the album. “I don’t know how other artists do it, but for this project I’m adopting the mentality of just keep writing and keep recording as much as possible, and then when we know that we’re ready to decide which tracks are going to be on the album, we’ll look at everything and narrow it down.“
He also described the sound of the album as George Michael meets Nine Inch Nails:
“No matter what the genre is, it’s all very personal, even on upbeat, fun tracks. The last album was a little bit more of a fantasy escape…even my image for that last album felt very theatrical and kind of over-the-top and intentionally tacky. I get a kick out of making artistic statements that are kind of ridiculous.”
“I think it’s going to let people underneath my facade a little bit — a self-created and totally admitted facade. I’m trying to convey to my audience that you really can’t judge a book by its cover, and there’s more to the universe than you can see with your eyes. It’s like existential pop.“
I'm a big fan of Glambatar and even though I did find the tracks on For Your Entertainment to be a bit uneven, I am really looking forward to the new album. I like the vibe he is taking which is a little bit electro-funk mixed in with some singer/songwriter tracks. Producers on the new album include Bonnie McKee & Oliver Goldstein, Sia, Pharrell Williams, and Claude Kelly so you know it's going to be good.
