WHITNEY HOUSTON IN TALKS TO JOIN SPARKLE REMAKE
While the singer has been laying low in rehab (or is she out right now? It's hard to keep up with these celebs at times), but it looks like her film plate is about to get quite full. The singer, who's last big screen role was in The Preacher's Wife with Denzel Washington back in 1996 is in talks to star in the remake of the 1976 classic Sparkle, which starred Irene Cara and Phillip Michael Thomas.
Sparkle, like another musical drama Dreamgirls was inspired by The Supremes, and tells the story about a group of Harlem female singers in the 60's. Jordin Sparks will make her feature film debut as Sparkle Williams and should Houston sign on she will play her mother. Whitney is also in talks to reprise her role in the sequel to Waiting to Exhale as well.
I'm all for Whitney making the true comeback she deserves, which she attempted two years ago with her last album, but I actually think Whitney playing Sparkle's mother is a great look.
