70'S ROCKER SLY STONE HAS GONE FROM RICHES TO RAGS
Now this is just plain ridiculous and sad. Back in the day I used to watch a show on TV called Where Are They Now, which would keep viewers up to date on their favorite celebrities after they've been out of the spotlight for a number of years. Now comes word that Sly Stone, legendary funk rocker from the iconic 70's group Sly & the Family Stone is homeless and living in his van.
The singer, who was on top of the world with millions of dollars in the bank and mansions in Beverly Hills, Napa Valley, and a vineyard has lost it all due to a bout with drugs and his spending on multiple cars. These days he can be seen living out of a white van in a rough Los Angeles neighborhood, and thanks to the kindness of strangers he gets at least one meal a day and a place to shower. Sly also claims that his manager cheated him out of money and forced him into investing in bad business deals. Many may not know this, but Stone sold all his valuable music-publishing rights to Michael Jackson for $1 million back in the 80's. Talk about someone who has no idea how to negotiate a business deal, let alone budget his own money. He's currently suing his business manager for $50 million.
The singer says he has tons of new music on his lap top and is in desperate need of a job:
“Tell everybody, please, to give me a job, play my music.”
This is why people need to be well aware of not only who they have in their inner circle, but of their business affairs as well. For those not familiar with Sly's hits, check out his songs Everyday People and Dance To The Music below...
