SYFY CANCELS EUREKA

First The Closer, then Desperate Housewives and now this? After five seasons, Syfy has decided instead of initially planning ordering six all new episodes of long-running original series Eureka, instead they've opted to cancel it. But don't cry for them Argentina. The network, who says it was a difficult decision to cancel the high rated show (I'm sensing it may have to do with budgetary reasons) says fans can look forward to a holiday episode in December and the series' final 12 episodes next year.

"The 2012 episodes are some of the best we've seen, and will bring this great series to a satisfying end," the statement continued. "We are very grateful to Bruce Miller and Jaime Paglia, their team of incredible writers, and an amazing cast and crew who have consistently delivered a series we continue to be very proud of. We thank the fans for their support of this show and know they will enjoy its final season in 2012."

Starring Colin Ferguson and Salli Richardson-Whitfield, Eureka is set in a fictional Oregonian town of the same name, which is inhabited primarily by geniuses and scientists. The second half of Season 4 premiered last month to more than 2 million viewers. Production on Season 5 is in progress.

I'm definitely sad that Eureka is coming to an end and I would have liked for those final six episodes to bring closure to the series for the fans, but at the end of the day everything that has a beginning has an end.
