I know there are some people out there still upset that their favorite ABC soaps are being kicked off daytime TV, but don't fret All My Children fans. The long-running soap will live to fight another day online.
But the big question is, when AMC moves to their new home on the web, will heroine Erica Kane stay or leave Pine Valley for good?
According to Deadline, original cast member Susan Lucci, 64, is considering an offer to remain on the daytime soap and has been offered an amount similar to the salary she currently earns. All My Children will air it's final episode on September 23, and will launch online in early 2012. Prospect Park, the company that has bought the rights to keep both One Life To Live and All My Children on the air once they relaunch online, is also negotiating to air the webisodes on cable (might I suggest SoapNet?). Susan Lucci is All My Children, so I think she should stay with the show.
As for both shows surviving online, I don't think it's a good idea. A lot of soap watchers aren't of the new generation, so why would they invest in watching their favorite soaps online. AMC and OLTL have a better chance of surviving on a cable network like SoapNet than online. People who watch soaps like my mother don't have the patience.
