The Gods most really pay attention to me when I talk, because a conversation I had about Roseanne Barr needing to get back on TV in a scripted series is seriously about to happen.
The comic, who can now be seen on the Lifetime reality series Roseanne's Nuts is set to make a comeback on the scripted circuit with a new sitcom called Downwardly Mobile, about a blue-collar family going through hard times. Her hit 90's sitcom Roseanne explored the same themes until the Connor family jumped the shark and won the lottery.
As of now the series does not have a home, but if a network does pick it up, might I suggest an edgier network such as Showtime, who has some shows of their own like Weeds and The Big C. Or better yet how about TV Land which houses hit sitcoms such as Hot In Cleveland and the recently-renewed Fran Drescher series Happily Divorced. I'm actually not a big fan of Roseanne's reality show, so I feel it's only fitting she come back to the sitcom world. Then again, it might be difficult to head your own series again and run for President.
