OPENLY GAY ACTOR GOES BACK INTO THE CLOSET AFTER CAREER TAKES OFF
This sounds like some Colton Haynes-type shit right here. Welsh actor Luke Evans, who is on the rise to become a huge action star has been advised by his handlers to head back in the closet.
back in 2002, the actor who will be seen in the upcoming action films Immortals, The Three Musketeers and The Hobbit (which he is currently shooting in New Zealand) was an out and proud homosexual while performing in the U.K. stage production of the Boy George musical, Taboo. He even spoke openly about his sexuality in The Advocate.
"It's not a big issue, and it's never going to be a big issue for me," he said in the Advocate interview. "[W]hether I'm successful or if I weren't successful, at least I'll never have that skeleton in the closet they can rattle out."
Now that he's 32 and his star is on the rise, the actor has not only gone quiet, but any trace of his open conversations regarding his sexuality has been wiped clean from the internet. What pains me about hearing this, is that in this day and age I still can't believe the old closeted crows of Hollywood are still trying to keep actors in the closet. If you walk down any gay friendly street, most gay men look like action heroes anyway, so I don't see why keeping quiet about your same sex attraction is a problem. There are gay guys that exist in the world that don't just do hair and make up and style straight people on some reality show. Some of us can kick your ass too.
It's almost 2012 people! Time to play catch up with the rest of the world and get with the program.
