Just when I was about to give up on watching 90210 after hearing that gay character Teddy was only going to be on a handful of episodes next season, they've sucked me back in. According to TV Guide, R&B singer Brandy has just signed on for a recurring role on the struggling CW soap.
The 32-year-old singer/actress, who was the star of many movies such as I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, Cinderella and her own sitcom Moesha for seven seasons will play Marissa Jackson-Lewis, a charismatic young politician running for Congress against the conservative uncle of Teddy (played by Trevor Donovan). TV Line reports that her character has been described as a cross between President Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton and hires Silver (Jessica Stroup) to shoot a campaign video to help her nab the youth vote.
With so many juicy cliff hangers last season (Naomi getting knocked up, Adrianna begging for her friends forgiveness after getting her ass handed to her for damn near ruining Silver's life, Teddy allegedly leaving), Brandy adding some much-needed energy to the series may just be what the doctor ordered. 90210 Season 4 premieres on Tuesday, September 13 at 8 on CW.
