After pics from the set of The Dark Knight Rises appeared online showing actress Anne Hathaway in action as Catwoman as they shot outdoor action sequences in Pittsburgh, fans of the Batman series got up in arms over how different the costume looks from what we're used to seeing Catwoman wear.
The 28-year-old actress recently sat down with MTV.com to defend the costume.
"I was not going to admit it I asked someone to send me a few reactions [to the photo], and I happen to know that MTV's reaction was 'meh.' "
MTV called the photo "underwhelming" and "unflattering," but Internet commenters were far harsher (surprise, surprise). When Yahoo Movies posted the pic, commentors called it "weak," "cheap-looking" and some demanded to know where the "cat part of the costume" was.
Even worse, a recent poll taken by US Magazine asked people to vote on "which star was the sexiest Catwoman?" Michelle Pfeiffer took the lead at 52 percent, Halle Berry earning 37 percent, and the "Brokeback Mountain" star at 11 percent.
Hathaway's response? "If you didn't like the photo, you only see about a tenth of what the suit can do," she teased. "And if you did like the photo, you have excellent taste."

I also think people need to trust that Christopher Nolan knows what he's doing, considering people were so quick to pan the late Heath Ledger the moment they found out he was playing The Joker in The Dark Knight. Once they caught his performance everyone was kissing his ass. Nolan is known to take a more realistic approach when it comes to superhero films (he is the one who changed how we perceive comic-book movies and found a way for us to take them more seriously) so I trust that he will deliver one of the most highly-anticipated closures to the franchise.
