Last fall it was announced that Akon had taken internet celebrity and singer Jeffree Star under his wing to craft out a Gaga-esque pop album. Ever since the announcement was made, we heard nothing in regards of Jeffree's album progress...until now. So far Jeffree has worked on a few tracks with Akon, as well as usual suspects Dr. Luke and Ke$ha. There are rumors he's set to work on some songs with RedOne and David Guetta, but those two have not been confirmed as official producers. Jeffree has also worked with Brian Kennedy (Rihanna) and Pebe Sebert (Ke$ha's mother), the latter who is mostly known for working with Country artists and also penned a few songs on her daughter's Animal record.
Quite frankly I was more of a fan of Jeffree's aesthetics than his music, and if Akon can get the world's most sought-after pop producers to work on his album, he may be guaranteed some instant pop success. I'm sure he'll do quite well overseas and in some of our more liberal U.S. cities, but I can't see Jeffree performing in front of 20,000 people in Iowa (unless Akon asks Lady Gaga to have him as one of her opening acts). I'm all for my colorful gays making it big and all, but sorry to say Jeffree's music and vocal abilities (or lack thereof) are just plain terrible.
