UNDERWORLD FRANCHISE GETS ANIMATED
Yesterday at the Underworld: Awakening panel at Comic Con, series co-creator and director of the first two films Len Wiseman revealed that the Underworld franchise will expand to the world of animation. Wiseman, who is directing the upcoming remake of Total Recall revealed that an animated spin-off is heading straight to DVD and will be included on the forthcoming Underworld box set.
Back when they were doing press for Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, Wiseman, and writer Kevin Grevioux hinted that they were looking to expand the Underworld universe on the small screen as a possible TV series. Since it is very expensive to do a series like Underworld for TV, maybe the best bet was to do it in animated form. I just hope they can get Kate to do the voice of Selene since she is a fan favorite.
Asked if more live-action sequels are in the works, Wiseman responded: "We are all interested in seeing where things go. I never thought - doing the first one - that it would go where it has. I am all for taking the characters we know and throwing them into a new environment. I'm all in favor of more films."
Looking forward to seeing this as well as some footage from the new Underworld movie. I also hope they explain why Michael Corvin is missing from the new movie.
