As some of you may or may not know, I am a HUGE fan of John Carpenter's The Thing, which was a remake and unfortunately bombed at the box office due to the fact that it opened against another extraterrestrial film called E.T. But don't fret kiddies, The Thing went on to become a cult classic among science fiction/horror affictionados and the creature effects in the film still hold up to this day. The scene where one of the guys's stomach opens up and chomps off the guy's hands when he tries to revive him still makes me jump to this day. Well the new version of The Thing coming this fall is a prequel and thankfully not a remake of the 1982 film, which in my opinion doesn't need a reboot. If The Thing is as good as the upcoming Alien prequel Prometheus, then count me in. The Thing, which was directed by Matthjis van Heijningen and stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Joel Edgerton, Jonathan Lloyd Walker and Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje will be in theaters on October 14.
