SOME PRETTY JUICY RUMORS IN REGARDS TO MADONNA'S NEW ALBUM

As you all know Madonna's been working on her new album since she first graced a London studio with her deity-like presence since July 4, and now it shouldn't come as no surprise that since the pop icon has been very secretive in regards to what the album's sound will be (we all know she's laid down a few tracks with Martin Solveig), that the rumor mill would be working overtime. So let's have a bit of fun with the rumors, shall we and remember don't take any of this as fact until we get official word from Madonna or her manager Guy Oseary.

  • A November release has been rumored for several weeks now and the rumors are getting stronger!

  • Musical inspirations for the album include Beth Ditto and Jessica 6.

  • Diagram of the Heart may be involved and a demo called Way Back Home may have been recorded during the  last recording session

  • Joe Henry (M’s brother-in-law – who she previously worked with on Don’t Tell Me) is involved in two collaborations so far.

  • Four songs have been recorded so far. One of them is a demo track from the American Life/Confessions On A Dance Floor sessions.

  • During pre-production A Madonna/ Lady Gaga collaboration or Madonna singing a song written by Gagawas considered but Madonna ruled it out.

  • Madonna wanted daughter Lourdes to contribute to the writing, but was put aside out of the fear the album would have came across too teenagey.

  • They are planning strong promotion for the album on social networking sites and with brands like Facebook and Apple (possibly something to do with the iPhone 5 launch)

  • Here are my thoughts on this matter: I actually like that she's inspired by Beth Ditto and Jessica 6, who mix dance music with a bit of that NYC dive bar rock n roll, and ever since Madonna released Confessions, she's often flirted with the European rocktronica sound.   Ditto even paid homage to Madonna when she recreated the Justify My Love video for her ferosh solo single I Wrote The Book, and Brooklyn band Jessica 6 are really good at mashing R&B with disco, and since dance music has been lacking that soulful vibe that we used to get back when Donna Summer, Chic and many others were turning out radio and dancefloor's all over the world, I would most definitely welcome a dirty/filthy direction for Lady M. Working with Joe Henry again would be genius, since he did produce one of the most exciting electro/country tracks for her off the Music album.

  • As for the Gaga rumors, I don't believe them at all. Madonna has paved the way for someone like Gaga, and if she were to pull a Cher I don't think Madonnaphiles would be as forgiving. Besides, she hasn't needed big stars to bring her a hit for the past 20+ years (although there was a big misstep when she called on Justin Timberlake for those hard Candy sessions) so why would she start now. Madonna's always been her strongest when she works with relatively unknown producers so it's best she stick to her strengths. I don't believe Madonna would have her daughter sit down and contribute lyrics to her album so I really believe that's a rumor. I mean I love the kids, but what would a 14-year-old like Lola contribute to a dance record when Madonna has lived?

  • And last but certainly not least, Madonna's camp definitely need to get with the times and come up with a new promotional strategy in regards of promoting her music. No one has benefited from this more than Lady Gaga, who kicked her career in high gear and used social networking sights like Facebook, YouTube and Twitter to promote her music, videos and interact with her fans. This boom happened threee years ago as you were winding down from your Sticky & Sweet tour. Hell, Bjork is using iPad apps to promote her entire new album Biophilia.

  • So what Madonna is going to have to do is not rely on artsy fartsy music magazines to promote her new album (since the magazine business is not only dying, but new generations spend more time on the world wide web than in an actual magazine), hit up shows like 106 & Park, The View, and a bunch of late night circuits, join Twitter (instead of tweeting through her manager @Guyoseary and really make herself more personable. I don't mean you need to tweet pics of your vagina hanging out while walking down the street in a see-through beekeeper's onesie, but you really need your fans to feel that they have some sort of a personable relationship with you. Working with Apple might be a good start. Looking forward to the new album announcement around August/September (a surprise performance at the MTV VMA's maybe?) and here's hoping for a November release.

  • I don't know why but for some reason I keep imagining Madonna's voice on this song.
