MTV PICKS UP TEEN WOLF FOR A SECOND SEASON

Here's some good news for the cast of Teen Wolf. The show is such a hit (and has gotten better with each episode) that MTV smartly picked up the series for a second season. I will admit I wasn't quite fond of the show in the beginning, but thankfully I stuck it out a little longer. After episode three is when the pace picked up a bit (it also didn't hurt that there was never a shortage of shirtless characters on the show - especially from Colton Haynes's Jackson character - how you doo-wah?). I just hope they give the gay character on the show a much larger role next season because two cameos where Stiles is asking if he finds him hot is just no cutting it. MTV announced today the pick-up of a second season of its critically acclaimed hit series "Teen Wolf." The sophomore season of MTV's young, sexy reinvention of the classic werewolf tale will return with 12 all new one-hour episodes in 2012.

"We're incredibly proud of this show. Executive producer Jeff Davis has brought an exciting, cinematic story to life with a breakout young cast who our audience has wildly embraced," said David Janollari, Head of MTV Programming. "Picking up 'Teen Wolf' for a second season marks another step towards the further diversification of our schedule, with this big, bold, entertaining scripted series."

With a 1.5 P12-34 rating, "Teen Wolf" is MTV's highest-rated new series of 2010 and 2011. Airing Monday nights at 10:00 p.m., "Teen Wolf" doubled its time period average from a year ago and ranks #4 across all TV in its time slot. Nearly 1.7 million total viewers tune in to "Teen Wolf" each week.

In next week's episode, the stakes couldn't be higher, as Stiles must help Scott face his second full moon as a werewolf, while at the same time, his romance with Allison is unraveling , and Derek is on the run from the sheriff, wanted for murder, on Monday, July 18 at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT on MTV.

"Teen Wolf" stars Tyler Posey as the newly bitten werewolf Scott McCall; Crystal Reed as the mysterious new girl in town Allison Argent; Dylan O'Brien as Scott's best friend Stiles; Tyler Hoechlin as Derek Hale, the beta wolf who is guiding Scott through his transformation; Holland Roden as Lydia Martin, the popular girl with a secret; and Colton Haynes as Jackson Whittemore, Scott's arch rival on the lacrosse team.

"Teen Wolf" was developed by Jeff Davis (creator, "Criminal Minds") who also serves as executive producer. Additional executive producers include Marty Adelstein ("Prison Break"), Michael Thorn, René Echevarria ("Medium," "Castle"), Tony DiSanto and Liz Gateley. Russell Mulcahy ("Highlander," "Resident Evil: Extinction") is co-executive producer. The pilot was written by Jeff Davis and Jeph Loeb & Matthew Weisman and directed by Russell Mulcahy. The "Teen Wolf" series is based on a Screenplay by Jeph Loeb & Matthew Weisman. David Janollari and Justin Levy are the MTV executives in charge of production. The series is a co-production with MGM, in association with Lost Marbles Productions, Inc., First Cause, Inc. and DiGa.
