FIRST LOOK: ANDREW GARFIELD AS THE AMAZING SPIDER MAN

I had been going through a bit of Entertainment Weekly withdrawal since their last issue was a Harry Potter double issue, but how excited was I when I received the latest issue in the mail yesterday with The Amazing Spider Man star Andrew  Garfield (The Social Network) on the cover. I have to admit when I heard they were making a new Spider Man movie with a new actor and director four short years after the over-plotted Spider Man 3, I started to get a bit worried because I felt it was too soon to reboot an established franchise (The Hulk anyone?). But then again, if you saw Spider Man 3 you pretty much felt the film started to suffer a bit from plot fatigue.

Anyways, I read the cover story and once I was done I started to feel a bit confident that this different take on Spider Man will not disappoint fans, since I love my superhero flicks with an emotional core. it's why I love Christopher Nolan's Batman films more than Tim Burton's (which I know is like comparing apples to oranges, but I like a little more grit and realism with my superheroes).

Another reason to pick up the issue: EW covers highly-anticipated films such as The Raven, Total Recall, Underworld: Awakenings, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1, Immortals, Abduction, Attack The Block, Conan The Barbarian, and TV favorites such as Dexter, Spartacus Vengeance, The Secret Circle, Ringer, Game of Thrones season 2, The Walking Dead season 2, and too much more here to mention. 2012 is looking to be a great year for superhero films and I cannot wait!
