BEYONCE STOPS BY THE VIEW; ORIGINAL VERSION OF BEST THING I NEVER HAD SURFACES
Beyonce appeared on The View yesterday to promote her album 4, and just as expected the same 10 questions they ask were asked like about starring in A Star Is Born, taking a year off, enjoying herself when she's not working, the music, babies, marriage, etc. Oh and she performed two songs. Best Thing I Never Had and 1+1. Speaking of the former, Patrick "J-Que" Smith, one of the co-writers on the song took to his Tumblr page to upload the original version of the song, which in my opinion sounds 1000 times better than the schmalzy Irreplaceable-esque power ballad that's currently on the radio. Here's what J-Que had to say about the new version of BTINH:
I’m both thrilled & grateful that #TeamBey decided to make our song the single and it sounds awesome…. But, this is what the song sounded like when we wrote it! I like this version….. Mostly because it’s not a ballad. The drums from “The Show” are what made me write to this song in the first place! Enjoy!
I actually like the old school feel of the track, which I thought was the direction Beyonce was going in when she talked about in the beginning stages of doing the album that the album was going to have more of a party vibe. The original version of the single gives it a more nostalgic feel and you can't help but rock your neck back and forth to the beat. but you know Bey - she ain't never took a real risk when it came to the music which is why the record ain't doing as big as it should.
