NBC RELAUNCHING FEAR FACTOR
With the success of shows like Wipe Out on ABC, rival network NBC is looking to revive their hit series Fear Factor. The network, who hasn't had much success in the reality genre in the past is looking to bring the series back after their new show The Voice proved to be a ratings juggernaut.
“No one has come close to doing what [they did] on that show,” NBC executive Paul Telegdy tells EW. “You go back and they’ve stood the test of time. It always had this incredible spectacle to it.”
Fear Factor was launched in 2001 and ran for five years until it was canceled in 2006. The show was hosted by Joe Rogan, who you can see now playing commentator for SPIKE TV's Ultimate Fighter live fights.
“The stunt and camera technologies have evolved since then; we’re going to be able to make it even bigger,” says Telegdy.
The reboot is expected to launch in 2012, but as of now there's no word on when the series will air and who will host. I can't wait for this show to come back because Fear Factor was one of my favorite shows growing up. If they need a new host I'm available for an audition.
