LADY GAGA WANTS YOU TO BELIEVE THAT SHE IS BROKE
I will go on the record to say that I was happy that unlike other blogs and websites, I have not reported anything about Lady Gaga for the past two weeks (just the occasional no-name mention jab when talking about far more creative artists). This story was too juicy to pass up.
Gawker recently reported on a story that Gaga did for The Financial Times where she went on the record to say she went bankrupt four times during her three-year reign as Madonna's dancing Mr. Hanky. The singer claims that she went bankrupt funding her Monster's Ball tour. Here is what the singer claimed to have purchased from her earnings (giving side-eye).
The only big things I've purchased are my dad's heart valve and a Rolls Royce for my parents, for their anniversary. And that was only because my dad had a Lady Gaga license plate on our old car and it was making me crazy because he was getting followed everywhere, so I bought him a new car. Other than that, I put everything in the show and I actually went bankrupt after the first extension of the Monster Ball.
Here's the thing people need to learn. She toured for two years with her Monster's Ball, which means she made plenty of money from merchandise sales and ticket purchases. If she made deals with Kodak, and countless ad placement deals with plenty of companies in her videos (remember all the product placement in her Telephone video), how are you broke? You can't be on the Forbes list in 2011 and estimated to be worth 100 million, gross over $200 million from the Monster's Ball and claim bankruptcy. To say that you went bankrupt for your fans and that you've sacrificed so much for your art is not only bullshit, but once again she's pandering to her fans for their sympathy (and their unemployment money). When you become a superstar, designers and other people in the business do things for you for publicity, because they know they will get a return on their investment. She's also signed to a major label, so she's most certainmy not broke. In fact - she made Interscope allot of fucking money. How quickly we forget that not only did she go to private school (with Paris and Nicky Hilton), but she also went to NYU which is not a cheap college to attend.
I'm just tired of her trust fund antics disguised as poor woman's sympathy, just so she can pander to the easily gullible. If she were honest about her past and would just be creative for creativity's sake, then I would like her more. Trust me when I tell you she's a brilliant businesswoman and you can't tell me she doesn't know where her money is going. I just can't stand a professional bullshitter and this cunt will never get a dime of my money to further her false agenda.
