BEYONCE IS DELUSIONAL
Beyonce graces yet another cover of Billboard magazine, and in the article she starts talking about how her music is soooo edgy and that her purpose is to push the envelope. Lest we forget the first time we ever saw Beyonce change up her style was in Lady Gaga's Telephone video, which the latter singer says is her least favorite video, by the way.
On being risky and edgy: “[Run the World] is not the same beat looped over and over again. It’s definitely riskier than something a bit more…simple. I feel like my job in the industry is to push the limits and I feel I have to constantly evolve. I can never be safe. It’s hard to create a new sounding uptempo song that people are going to love, not only in America, but around the world, or for different ages. This song, it sounds like a dance song, but it’s much deeper. When I was doing the video, I was dancing, and I like to always dance from the inside, and… I was trying to express to all the dancers, hundreds of girls, to think about women in Egypt, and to think about any woman that’s been put down, think about their mothers, and dance from that place. It almost made me cry when it got to the last chorus because it’s emotional”
On creative input: “I’ve always edited my own videos, I’ve always written my own video treatments.”
On vocals: “I really wanted to focus on my vocal performances. I gave myself a lot more freedom to really belt out some of the songs. You can really focus on just my vocal performance and lyrics. Just bringing soul singing back. I used a lot of my brassiness and grittiness.”
On power: “Power means hard work, and sacrifice. To me, setting a good example. And not abusing your power.”
On her new album ’4′: “I want this album to make you feel love. All aspects of love.”
I guess Beyonce seems to think because most of her listening audience has no idea who Major Lazer is she thinks screaming over a two-year old beat makes her avant-garde. I just have to laugh at these mainstream artists who spend so much time living inside of a bubble they have no idea how the real world truly works. You took a risk with Run The World and everyone hated it, so now you went back to playing it safe with your new single, The Best Thing I Never Had (aka Irreplaceable pt. 2).
And for a second I thought the true meaning of power was explained in a Kanye West song? Not buying your meaning of power. Hard work and sacrifice only protrudes loneliness, not power. Playing the game and kissing a lot of ass makes a lot of people powerful. Making the right choices in life and career and standing by your convictions without other negative influences is what I deem someone with power. Making something of yourself as a strong black woman and pouring that money and influence back into your community is what I call powerful. You and your husband have yet to protrude such things. Sorry Bouncy, but in the words of Aunt Bunny...
