U.S. VERSION OF NICOLE SCHERZINGER'S KILLER LOVE ALBUM TO BE MORE R&B

Nicole Scherzinger has already released the UK version of her album Killer Love, but for her fans back home she's lined up Snoop Dogg and R. Kelly for the U.S. edition. When the new X Factor host drops her new album on State shores this summer, it will feature five new tracks, including the Right There remix with 50 Cent: “At the time I was doing my U.K. album, I was really into more dance-inspired music, which is amazing and so much fun for Europe,” Nicole told Rap-Up.com. “For the U.S., I wanted to go back to my roots where I started, a little bit more urban sounding ’cause that’s still a very big part of me as well, and I wanted to make sure I wove that into the album.”

Sounds like to me that Nicole is looking to play it safe for the U.S. market like Kelly Rowland, who is resorting to the same principle for her long-delayed third release. Nicole opened up about a track she worked on called Peep Show, which was written by R. Kelly and a guest-appearance by the very busy Snoop Dogg. “I got a song that R. Kelly wrote, which is amazing. Snoop’s on it,” she revealed. “It’s called ‘Peep Show’ and I love it ’cause it actually reminds me a little bit of the Pussycat Dolls, but it’s Nicole. It’s just a really fun and sassy song—a dope song with a great beat. R. Kelly’s such an unbelievable writer. It’s a really hot track I think.”

The singer for the first time revealed why she scrapped her debut album, Her Name Is Nicole after recording almost 100 songs. “I decided not to come out with [Her Name Is Nicole] because I felt like the fans really wanted another Pussycat Dolls album, so I gave them what they wanted and before we knew it we were on tour again.”

Why don't I believe that last comment? Nicole was trying to push that debut album hard, and when people did not respond to the singles they scrapped it altogether and shoved her ass back in the studio to craft out new PCD tracks. As for her R&B direction, I really hope she can find a way to make the genre more exciting again, because truth be told I despised all the tracks she did with RedOne. If Nicole wants to be taken seriously she needs to find a way to stand out amongst her peers. If Rihanna can gain fans by stepping out and trying different musical genres, Nicole need to do the same.
